APARTMENTS: Another view

| July 29, 2021 1:00 AM

The story about the police departments (which I respect greatly) about apartments is only part of what will happen. I have lived through this very situation.

First, apartments are rented out. As time goes by some owners find it’s not that profitable, for many reasons (poor management, etc.). They turn to Section 8 rentals — government-guaranteed poor housing.

Section 8 will pay any lost rents, and any rent related repairs. Cool free ride for apartment owners. Then steps in the crooked contractors, placing very inflated bid on rework. The government has no way of regulating this work, so a $2,000 job is placed for $9,000 and the contractors and apartment owner split $7,000. And it goes on…and on!

The Obama administration started demanding Section 8 in every community, with weak enforcement by HUD, but now the Biden pretend presidency has put teeth in the HUD law. Communities WILL NOT be able to stop Section 8 housing in our neighborhoods. In 10 years your neighborhoods might look like drug-dealing ghettos.

I lived in a $450,000 neighborhood and in four years, three apartment complexes with 380 units turned the surrounding 4 miles into a drug and gang infested area. Safe for NO ONE. Investigate what I have said. The info is all there to find if you care.
