Dr. Michael Park, 35

Beloved local optometrist, 35-year-old Dr. Michael Adam Park, OD, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on July 16, 2021, due to complications from a rare autoimmune disease.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kristina Nibley Park, and their three daughters, Hazel (6), Mila (4) and Evelyn (18 months). Michael also leaves behind his parents, Mike J. Park and Lori Brewer Park of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, along with his siblings, Carlee Park Shirts, KateLyn Park Jenkins and Jeffrey J Park.

Raised in Coeur d’Alene, Michael was a North Idaho guy through and through. He took great pleasure in being outdoors with his family and friends and loved to hunt, fish, hike, travel, snowboard, wakeboard and spend time at the lake.

Michael was a part-time exotic reptile breeder, raising rare lizards with great care and shipping them all over the world. Never one with idle hands, he was also a DIY master and recently built an outdoor wooden jungle gym for his three daughters, the lights of his life.

After graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School, Michael served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah, speaking Spanish. He then earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Utah Valley University, followed by a Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University in Oregon.

Michael was a board-certified optometrist and a member of the American Optometric Association and practiced at Liberty Lake Eyecare Center in Liberty Lake, Wash. He loved his “work family“ and patients, caring about each of them and their needs individually while providing the highest standard of care.

Michael was truly the rock of his family and a shining example of hard work, grit, love, kindness and humility to everyone who interacted with him. His wit and sly sense of humor brought light and laughter into all of our lives.

Uncle Michael was the perfect amount of taunt, tease and love. He leaves a hole in the lives and hearts of his family and friends, who are forever changed for having had the privilege of knowing him in this life. Michael was many things to many people, but above all he was a devoted husband to his true love, Kristina, and a loving “Daddy” to Hazel, Mila, and Evelyn.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hanley Chapel. 2293 West Hanley Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
