STUDENT PROFILE: Lake City grad makes good

| July 16, 2021 1:00 AM

Brian Karsann graduated with honors from Lake City High School. He did that while also completing a two-year program in construction trades at Kootenai Technical Education Campus.

Brian was just getting started.

The son of David and Robin (Dorsett) Karsann of Coeur d'Alene then graduated with high honors from Boise State University on May 8, with a bachelor of business administration in accountancy as well as a certificate in business analytics.

This month, he accepted a full-time professional position as an analyst for Goldman Sachs in Salt Lake City.

His path has been decorated with awards, thanks to hard work.

Consider:

• He was a three-year recipient of the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship and received the honor of being a “Graduating Student Leader” awarded by Boise State faculty.

• He was a co-founder and elected president in 2018 of the Financial Management Association. He led discussions in economics, investing, personal finance and real estate.

• In the spring of 2019, members traveled to Salt Lake City to tour Goldman Sachs. That summer, members secured a $4,000 grant to assist in travel costs to tour PJT Partners, Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and DotDash (Investopedia) in New York City.

• He participated in philanthropic events during his time at BSU. He served as a member on the Fraternity and Sorority Life Task Force in the fall of 2020 to ensure accountability and posterity within the Boise State Greek Community.

• He was elected president in 2019 of Beta Alpha Psi (International Honor Society for Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems students), which delivered food boxes to local schools for families in need and participated in Rake Up Boise. He also assisted in the transition to a virtual format in the fall of 2020 to ensure continuous operation throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

If all that wasn't enough, Karsann served on the board of his Homeowners Association in Boise.
