March on, Post Falls
POST FALLS - Seltice Way buzzed with activity from Spokane to Idaho streets as people clumped along the sides of the road and cheered on the Post Falls Festival parade Saturday morning.
“We love it,” said Lauren Putzeys of Post Falls, who brought her family. “The kids love it. They love the fire trucks and the police officers and the dancing, and lots of candy.”
Several local businesses drove their vehicles through the streets while throwing candy. The parade was also packed with appearances from local law enforcement and fire trucks, Post Falls High School athletes, the Blazen Divaz and more.
Mary Pettit, a Balzen Diva from Post Falls, said she enjoys dancing for the camaraderie, exercise and entertaining the crowds.
“I get great pleasure out of that,” said Pettit, who hasn't missed a parade since she joined the Divaz 11 years ago. “The expressions on the little kids' faces, and seeing the people getting into the music, it’s just very rewarding.”
Benjamin Cesarini, 4, of Coeur d’Alene said he enjoyed seeing the big trucks.
Citizen of the Year Graydon Stanley and Volunteer of the Year Christi Fleischman were also recognized in the hour-long parade.
“It’s fun to see people in the community and just get out and be together again,” Becky Fisher of Post Falls said. “Sometimes at the parade, I run into people I haven’t seen in a while.”
“I think it just creates a sense of community,” Fisher said.
The Post Falls Festival continues until 4 p.m. today at Q’emlin Park.
