CAR d’LANE: Two thumbs down

| July 9, 2021 1:00 AM

I was glad to see Coeur d’Alene celebrating 30 years of what has been a very fun event. I have attended 25 of the 30 years in various cars. I agree with Gus Johnson’s Guest Opinion regarding the show. 2021 was not a fun event.

The parade was very slow and unorganized. Very few ways to enter the parade lanes. Lots of cars overheated waiting for directions and a very circuitous route.

I was in line at 6 a.m. Saturday for the show. Was finally parked after inching my way through what looked like the same route the parade took the night before.

I was approached by a woman in a golf cart wearing a yellow shirt and she told me to have my pass mounted on my windshield or I would be “kicked out” of the show. My entry information was clearly displayed on the windshield.

Around 7:45 I was parked on Front Street. The show is on Sherman, not Front Street, not that many people came down there. After I parked, I walked up to Sherman around 9 a.m. and found the people in yellow shirts parking cars on Sherman.

I believe the show is not being run by car people. I will not do the show again.
