Post Falls Festival begins Friday

POST FALLS — With summer in high gear, the annual Post Falls Festival begins Friday and continues through Sunday at Q’emiln Park.

It features nearly 100 craft and food vendors, a beer garden and live music. The Post Falls Festival Parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. The route is on Seltice Way from Spokane Street to Idaho Street.

After canceling the event in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers are thrilled to bring it back this year.

“My favorite thing is just having a huge community event," said Traci Stevenson, recreation manager for the Post Falls Parks & Recreation Department.

Activities for children are a highlight of the festival. The McDonald’s Big Wheel race gets rolling at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

At 9 p.m. Friday, festival organizers are presenting “Moana” for free movie night in the park. Stevenson said families are welcome to bring chairs and spread out. The Post Falls Police Department will be on hand, passing out snacks and water.

A newer feature of the festival is the homemade craft fair 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Saturday in the grand pavilion. Homemade crafts have grown in popularity since being added to the event itinerary three years ago.

Also Saturday, a free ice cream social is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Post Falls Museum, and the Car Show & Shine will be from 11 a.m to 3 p.m at Post Falls City Hall.

“And the food,” Stevenson said. “Everything from lamb burgers to kettle corn to Mexican. It just keeps growing and growing.”
