PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Sandpoint finishes sweep of Lewiston

| January 24, 2021 1:14 AM

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint shut down Lewiston in the fourth quarter on Saturday to secure a 50-40 Inland Empire League victory and a season sweep of the Bengals at Les Rogers Court.

Lewiston is rebuilding, but a sweep of a 5A opponent can’t be overlooked, head coach Will Love said. Plus, it allows SHS to keep pace with 4A IEL rival Lakeland, who beat the Bengals twice as well.

“To get two wins against a 5A opponent, especially Lewiston that’s well coached, that’s huge for our program,” he said.

Karlie Banks led the Bulldogs (7-7, 4-5 IEL) with 13 points, four rebounds, two steals and a block. Hattie Larson had nine points and five steals and Kaylee Banks tallied nine points and four assists. Destiny Lyons and Bella Phillips each had four points and Daylee Driggs added seven rebounds.

Zoie Kessinger led Lewiston (3-11, 1-11) with 11 points.
