Gordon Charles Price
Gordon Charles Price was a resident of the Eugene area for more than 26 years. Gordon died of an aggressive form of cancer in Tucson, Ariz., at the age of 78, on Jan. 6, 2021.
Gordon was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Nov. 2, 1942, to Gordon J. Price and Margaret Alison Price Petragallo. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sharon Nelson, in 1959 and they recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Gordon and Sharon had three children: Terri Price Byers, Kenneth Price and Nancy Price Almond, who blessed them with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Peggy Cameron and Alison Hadley.
Gordon graduated with a business degree from the University of Idaho in 1969. Upon graduation from the University, Gordon accepted a position as a commercial insurance underwriter with United Pacific Reliance. Upon accepting this position, Gordon moved his family to Oregon to begin his long and successful career in the insurance business. Along with Sharon, they raised their family in Junction City, Ore. Gordon and Sharon then resided in Eugene until his retirement in 1993.
Gordon, together with his business partner, Ike Kingrey, started Kingrey Price Insurance in 1979, in Springfield, Ore., and along with another partner, Stan Duyck, grew the agency very quickly and changed the name to Kingrey, Price & Duyck Insurance. Eventually, the business became K.P.D. Insurance and remains today as one of the largest independent agencies in the state of Oregon, with more than 90 employees.
During his time with K.P.D. Insurance, Gordon served the local Springfield and Eugene business community by providing his clients with professional risk-management consultation and sound business advice. Many of his clients and K.P.D. employees became lifelong friends.
Upon retiring from K.P.D. in 1993, Gordon and Sharon moved to Palm Desert, Calif., and eventually settled in the Tucson area. Gordon and Sharon amassed a number of new friends and enjoyed golfing on a regular basis.
At the time of his passing, Gordon and Sharon were living in Tucson with their poodle, Holly, one of many poodles they had during the entire 61 years of their marriage. Gordon will always be known as a great friend and one who would always give anything to help a friend in need.
