Marshall 'Pete' James Peters, 85

| February 14, 2021 1:00 AM

Pete Peters passed peacefully Feb. 2, 2021, at Legends Park Assisted Living Center, surrounded by his wife of 56 years and their two sons.

Born Jan. 20, 1936, in St. Paul, Minn., to Leonard and Nellie Peters, Pete graduated high school in 1954, then went to work for Minnesota Mining Company (3M). A few years later, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Jones, and they were married on April 18, 1964. Pete and Betty moved to Hudson, Wis., where they adopted two boys before moving the family to Kansas City, Kan., in 1971.

They then decided to move to North Idaho to raise their sons in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1976. Pete worked as a painter in the greater Coeur d’Alene area for many years then went to work for the Hauser Lake Lumber Company, where he retired in 1995.

Those who knew Pete will remember him for his love for and dedication to his family and his sense of humor. Pete would take any job he could find and work long hours to make sure that his family was always provided for. There was rarely a moment that he wasn’t cracking a joke and laughing with whoever was in the room, whether it was friends, family, or his nurses and caregivers.

Pete loved hunting, fishing and camping, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Nellie Peters; his sister, Betty Moore; and his twin brothers, who passed shortly after birth. Pete is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Peters; sons Jon and Paul Peters; grandchildren Travis Schierman, Emily Peters and Holly Peters; and great-grandchildren Bailey, Kyncie, and Crimson Schierman.

A small memorial will be held in the summer and his ashes will be scattered in Avery, Idaho, where he enjoyed many hunting trips with friends.
