Virginia Young, 91

| December 21, 2021 1:00 AM

Virginia Young passed from this life’s experience into the arms of our Savior on Dec. 14, 2021, at her home in Hayden Lake, Idaho.

She was born March 12, 1930, in Topeka, Kan., and grew up in Waco, Texas.

Virginia married George E. Young in Houston, Texas, on Sept. 4, 1960, and honeymooned in Galveston, Texas — a marriage that lasted over 61 years strong. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

She and George operated Young’s Nursery and Landscaping as second-generation owners, which was established in 1928.

As co-entrepreneur she also managed raising her babies and maintaining an active happy home for her family. Her family never lacked in what they needed and they were always lifted by love and encouragement.

As a school girl, Virginia received certificates in cursive hand writing. Her penmanship was a work of elegance, an artistic expression in stylish script.

She volunteered to teach Vacation Bible School because she loved the Lord and children.

Virginia was a voracious reader on a variety of subjects and loved to quote scripture from the Bible. She was skilled in sewing and embroidering, and always handwrote letters to family and friends. She had a collection of rocks, handpicked from various travels and she would know where each one came from.

Exercise was a routine, including a daily walk around their acreage. She was always immaculately dressed, high heels, dresses, fine jewelry, but nothing was more graceful than her warm eyes, welcoming smile and the Texas drawl she retained from childhood.

She would say she doesn’t have a sense of humor, then proceed to make you laugh. Her playful spirit caused children to gravitate to her. Virginia’s family wasn’t just her world, it was her whole universe, complete with stars so close you could reach up and touch the brilliance. She would define her success by how she treated other people. She was simply kind and shared her generous heart not for show, but because that’s all she knew how to be.

Virginia was a masterpiece of a woman the likes of which cannot be emulated, but simply admired for her generous soul and adored for the depth of her personality. She touched the hearts of so many people, leaving beautiful memories, and she will be greatly missed by her husband and family.

She is survived by her husband, George; sons Louis Daly (Christina), George (Scott) and James (Halei); daughters Liz Packard, Diana Heath (Brad), Cheryl Chesser (Paul) and Ke’aren; brother Frank; sister Ruby (Ernie). Virginia had 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by son-in-law Rob Packard; brothers Louis and Benny.

A fond remembrance and celebration of her life will be held at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at 2 p.m.
