POST FALLS — Ground was broken Tuesday on the new Project Print building in Post Falls by Harris & Bruno International, a company based in Roseville, Calif.,

“For my wife and I the business is more than just a business, it's a family too,” President and CEO Nick Bruno said to about 20 people. “We have a lot of long-term employees and we wanted to not only relocate and expand the business to an area that is business friendly but to an area that we want to be in and I think we’ve made a great choice.”

Bruno’s father, Mel Harris, founded the company in 1948 and Bruno joined the team in 1984.

Bruno and his family purchased a home in Post Falls last year.

Harris & Bruno International specializes in coating and priming equipment for printing applications and expects Project Print to provide “niche products” to those industries. Equipment manufactured by the company can be found worldwide.

Located near the McGuire Road and Okanogan Avenue intersection, the facility will be about 20,000 square feet. Initially, they plan to hire 10 people. They plan to have a staff of about 60 once the majority of business operations move to Post Falls.

Hirees will work in “laser cutting, powder coating, welding, metal fabrication and CNC machining. Some current employees will relocate from California when the facility is complete," Bruno said.

Mayor Ron Jacobson was on hand to offer an invocation as well as Chris Fillios, Kootenai County commissioner, Chairman Brad Marshall of Jobs Plus/ CdAEDC and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and the city.

“It’s a pleasure to see people join one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S. with a diversified base,” Fillios said. “You’re only adding to it and I think it’s great that we have a company of your stature and helping us expand our workforce and bring opportunities to this area. Thank you so much for choosing us.”
