William Howard (Bill) Pickett

March 6, 1946 — Nov. 28, 2021

Bill was a 5-mile prairie boy who graduated from Mead High School, and attended EWU. He served in Vietnam on the Navy’s USS Constellation Carrier (1965-1969) catapulting aircraft. His 41-year career began in San Diego as a lineman. Five years later Bill started towards home via Wallace, Idaho, serving 20 years as a foreman for Citizens Utilities Co. He finally arrived back home in Spokane with Avista growing his career from lineman, foreman, general foreman, construction design for new growth and rebuilds, for both residential and commercial, and then he progressed to area manager for southwest company customers which is serviced out of Othello, Wash.

Bill’s passions were God and people. His pursuits included learning history, native American culture, fishing, gunsmithing, hunting, skiing, ATVs, his rock shop, coin collection, photography and most importantly: ancestry/DNA. His family tree dates back as far as 300 A.D. containing over 14,000 people.

Bill is survived by his wife, Vickie Sellers Flatt, daughters Joanna Conley and Stephanie Pickett, son William, and along life’s journey, he gained four stepdaughters, three stepsons, 24 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be will be held 1 p.m., Dec. 19, at Sunset Chapel 5200 W. Wellesley Ave. Spokane, WA 99205 and immediately following at VFW Post 51 300 W. Mission Ave. Spokane, WA 99201.
