“The kids came out and competed really, really well tonight,” Coeur d’Alene assistant coach Kelly Moffat said. “We had some of them that didn’t get a chance to wrestle on Wednesday, so it was their first matches, and to compete as well as they did, it was exciting to see.”

Coeur d’Alene has five wrestlers still in contention in the consolation bracket.

Jaren Knopp (106), Matthew Williams (113), Lucas Williams (138) and Devon Suko (170) advanced to the semifinals for Lakeland, which is sixth with 68.5 points. The Hawks also have five in the consolation bracket.

“Those guys wrestled great and competed hard,” Lakeland coach Zach Horsley said. “They’re looking good. I’m pleased with how they wrestled. They’re wrestling really well right now for this early in the season, I’m happy with how they’re performing.”

Championship finals are scheduled for today at 3:30 p.m.
