Make it a tradition

| December 10, 2021 1:00 AM

"Traditions of Christmas," is making its ninth annual appearance opening tonight at 7 p.m. at the Salvation Army Kroc Center theater in Coeur d’Alene.

The Radio City Music Hall-style show runs through Dec. 22, with 16 performances to choose from. It features a cast of 35 people and over 400 costumes, and includes choreographed kickline tap numbers, a military tribute performance and a Nativity conclusion.

Executive producer Laura Little said her favorite part of the show is the military tribute through a replicated USO number.

“That just means a whole lot to me personally because my dad was in the military,” Little said. “I just love watching the audience's reaction to that piece.”

Little said another special part of the show is the silhouette scene.

“It’s something that most people have never seen in their life,” Little said. “It’s a very unique way of telling a story through a silhouette, and people have just really embraced the piece.”

Little said the show is filled with comedy, and there’s a lot of different types of scenes, but it all flows together to tell the story of how Christmas is celebrated in different cultures and what it means to different people.

The show is produced by Laura Little Theatricals and co-produced by Marie Hunt. Little is the Broadway co-producer of the Tony Award-winning "Come From Away," currently on Broadway, as well as "Peter and the Starcatcher" and "First Date." She also produced the off-Broadway show "All Is Calm" in 2018.

This year’s show is sponsored by Lea Williams of Tomlinson Reality, Spokane International Airport, Expressions School of Performing Arts and many other local organizations.

Rick Taylor is in his fifth year of directing the show and Deborah Rambo is the musical director. The choreography team is made of Brenda Blankenship, Brianna White and Annie Stillar.
