Following an “unusually low number of candidates,” Kootenai County has reopened the application period for those interested in serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Dec. 15, and candidates may undergo interview sessions with the board of county commissioners. Selected members will be appointed in Jan. 2020 to a three-year term.

“These citizens would represent the broad interests of the public while serving in an advisory capacity to the board of county commissioners,” a Tuesday news release stated. “The Planning and Zoning Commission offers the public an opportunity to make an impact on local decision-making by providing recommendations directly to the appropriate decision-makers.”

Planning and Zoning Commissioners serve on a volunteer basis. To learn more about the position, go to kcgov.us/484/Planning-and-Zoning-Commission.

Applications are available online at kcgov.us.
