Vaccination viewpoint worth considering

| August 11, 2021 1:00 AM

Many of us know him as Hayden's Computer Guy. We've had great experiences with Dennis Edelbrock providing top-notch service when our computers become uncooperative.

But Edelbrock is much more than a tech guru. He's a good man who is respectful of all viewpoints but wise in choosing his own path.

As we were researching the latest information for an editorial about potential Food and Drug Administration approval of COVID-19 vaccines, the rise of a dangerous new variant, renewed mask policies and more, a letter to the editor from Edelbrock popped up in our inbox. Just 262 words, it spoke volumes.

I have read all the various LTE on vaccinations over the last several months. So here is my take.

First off I am NOT going to tell anybody what to do. That is a personal decision. However, I will explain why I have done what I have done.

Early in 2020 I, like everyone (except the CCP) was shocked that COVID-19 was running rampant and killing vast numbers of people. There seemed to be no hope in sight (as per Dr. Fauci and others).

President Trump, because he is a businessman and not a politician, called together the best and brightest from the pharmaceutical world and said can we beat this virus? They answered yes. So began Operation Warp Speed.

In less than a year, we had several vaccines ready for use. I read all I could on the vaccines and then called my daughter, who holds a Ph.D. in microbiology and runs the lab at the Army Corps of Engineers, and asked her about the vaccines. She told me that these vaccines are the safest type of vaccines possible.

My wife and I have serious health problems (leukemia and diabetes). I own my own business and financially, like many small and large businesses, 2020 was a disaster. We received our vaccines in February-March of 2021. I am happy we did.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of confusing and contradictory information out there. I am a Christian and believe in doing what is right for my brother so I am back to wearing a mask. So is my Ph.D. daughter. Your choice.
