Darci Joan (Gue) Melvin

Age 54

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Darci Joan Melvin on May 18, 2021, from a tragic car accident in Post Falls, Idaho.

Born Feb. 18, 1967, in Great Falls, Mont., to William and Adrienne Gue. From the beginning she was a colorful character with a vibrant personality.

Raised in Great Falls, Mont., she grew to be a loving and compassionate person who loved to be silly, and she was perhaps at her best when her silliness caused her to dissolve into fits of giggles and laughter. (Despite never actually trying to be funny, she was hilarious.)

After graduating from C.M. Russell High School, she relocated to Dallas, Texas, where she married and had a son who was the love of her life. If you were lucky enough to be present when she gazed into her child's face, the pure joy radiating from her would blind you.

Besides being a loving wife and mother, she worked in the restaurant industry and volunteered at the Dallas Police Station. Darci was one of the last girls to perform as a legendary "Girl on a Velvet Swing" at the iconic Old San Francisco Steakhouse before it closed its doors in 2006. She would impressively swoosh across the room up to the top, where she would kick the bell on the ceiling. Completely amazing and one of her most enjoyable jobs.

Darci relocated from the Dallas area to Post Falls/Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 2019 to be closer to family and started her own cleaning business. She never met a stranger and loved what she did for a living.

She was world-renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and her knack for telling it like it is.

Darci truly believed in the Elemental Spirit Fairies and Sprites and could spend hours looking up to the moon and stars, dreaming and hoping to catch a glimpse of them glowing in the night. Her friendliness and kindness to all people, and her devotion and love for animals, are a tribute to the beauty of her heart and soul.

Whatever issues Darci was confronted with throughout her life, she kept a positive attitude and still put one foot in front of the other, chasing her dreams.

She was a lover of the arts and fashion but her greatest passion was music. Darci always sang out loud while listening to music without a care in the world. She belted out every word to every song on her iPod with her earbuds in. (Entertaining for anyone within range). Darci’s point of view: No matter how bad you might sound … keep singing anyway!

She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family and embraced every moment with them. Her inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known her.

So many things in her life seemed of little significance at the time they happened, but then took on greater importance as we reflected back. We will always remember her infectious laugh and beautiful smile that could light up your soul.

Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed, but we are comforted knowing she will be attending a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time.

Those left heavy-hearted include parents William and Adrienne Gue, son Noah Melvin, sisters Andrea Douglas and Leslie Taylor, brother Scott Gue, niece and nephews Lucien Douglas, Jessica Humphreys, Wesley Gue, and countless friends and relatives.

DJ, may the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear how much we Love and Miss you and Wish that you were here!

Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, 201 44th St. S., Great Falls, Mont. 59405

A Celebration of Life and Reception will be held in the Parish Hall following the Funeral Mass.

Darci will be inurned at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Mausoleum in Great Falls, Mont.

The family (and mostly her faithful rescue dog Daisy Mae) suggests in lieu of flowers, please, make a donation to a local no-kill shelter or animal rescue of your choice.
