PREP ROUNDUP: Moak shines as Post Falls notches wild split in softball

SOFTBALL

POST FALLS — McKenna Moak hit a two-run single to cap a four-run uprising in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Post Falls Trojans rallied to earn a split with the Lake City Timberwolves with a 12-11 victory on Tuesday and keep the teams tied for second place in the Inland Empire League.

In the first game, Hope Bodak went 3 for 4 with two homers, four RBIs and five runs scored as Lake City (13-5, 11-5 IEL) won 15-9.

Moak went 4 for 4 with three RBIs for Post Falls (11-5, 11-5).

In the second game, Kaycie Barber homered and went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and four runs scored for Post Falls, and Moak went 3 for 5 with a double and five RBIs.

Austin Hill homered twice and finished 4 for 5 with four RBIs and four runs scored for Lake City, and Abby Gray homered and finished 3 for 5.

On Tuesday, Lake City plays host to Lakeland, and Post Falls travels to Lewiston for a doubleheader.

In the opener, Samantha Mader struck out nine in the five-inning shutout for Lewiston (17-4, 11-3 IEL). Taryn Barney hit a two-run homer and Loryn Barney added a solo shot for the Bengals.

Hailey Gosch went 2 for 3 for Lakeland (9-12, 5-8).

Lakeland returns to action Saturday at Lake City in IEL play.

Mullan senior Talowa Fallingwater won in the 300-meter hurdles, discus, long jump and triple jump.

Area schools will compete in the Timberlake Invitational on Friday in Spirit Lake.
