GOP: Gone astray

To my great dismay, I read Wednesday’s front-page story regarding the library trustee candidate. I find it astonishing that someone who identifies himself as a representative of the Republican Party would refuse to endorse a candidate for a non-partisan library trustee seat because the candidate would not censor a book the interviewer finds objectionable.

What has become of the Republican Party? How is it that the party now endorses censorship? How is it that anyone from the central committee is endorsing any candidate prior to a primary? The function of the central committee is to support candidates AFTER they have been nominated by the voters.

I, and I am certain I am not alone, will find it very difficult to vote for anyone who is endorsed by the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee.
