COMMISSIONERS: A great decision

| April 9, 2021 1:00 AM

Thank you, Bill Brooks, Leslie Duncan and Chris Fillios! I think a lot of folk were afraid our County Commissioners would be forced to approve a conditional use permit requested by the Hayden Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church out of fear of the unspoken threat of a Federal lawsuit.

Why would the Church buy a piece of property knowing it wasn’t zoned for their intended purpose? Surely, they weren’t planning, from the beginning, on threatening the county with RLUIPA…or were they?

Now they can sell the 10-acre parcel and use that money for the supposed renovation of their existing facility. Why won’t the existing 10-acre facility allow for “an agricultural curriculum?” If the zoning doesn’t allow for it, why not purchase some agricultural land for that purpose?

I’m sure a lot of research, thought and public discourse went into the making of this decision. Again, THANK YOU for making the right decision.
