DEMOCRATS: Hills to climb

| April 7, 2021 1:00 AM

So the Kootenai County Democrats want to increase their legislative power in the county. Let’s look at the issues with which they hope to sway the voters.

Making it easier for outside organizations to push their mostly liberal agendas via the initiative process (see California for multiple examples). Allowing the governor to issue health and lockdown mandates without approval of the legislature. Opposing “union busting” pubic education bills that would make it harder for students to opt out of sex education programs, like those that support gender transitioning for 11-year-old girls. Opposing tax cuts, because tax cuts only benefit the upper 1% of earners and do nothing for the rest. Last but not least, requiring mask wearing (forever?) because Republicans without masks carrying on closeup conversations is just too horrible to imagine.

Sound good Kootenai County, I don’t think so. No wonder there were only 50 people participating in the Democratic town hall. The only hope for Democrats to gain legislative control is to pass “election reform” to get rid of all the ugly voter suppression in Kootenai County.
