RESPONSE: Misdirected fear

| September 6, 2020 1:00 AM

In regard to the letter from Alice Arambarri titled “Extremists: Leaders, step up now” all I can really say is if she truly feels that our community is under siege, being intimidated and is fearful her safety is being jeopardized by law abiding citizens gathering PEACEFULLY and exercising their legal rights guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States, the Idaho State Constitution and protected under various state laws and local ordinances, then I have to assume, as much as I hate to make assumptions, that she must be scared absolutely sh…um…totally terrified of the rioters in cities that do NOT assemble peacefully (disorderly conduct at the least and a crime), burn buildings, vehicles or anything else they can destroy (the crime of arson and in the event the building or vehicle is occupied, attempted murder), loot (the crime of theft), beating up people that don’t agree with them (the crime of assault or battery), destroying public and private property (vandalism at a minimum and still another crime), and in some cases, committed murder (yet another crime).

It just surprises me that anyone would feel intimidated, fearful or under siege by any group that gathers peacefully and exercises their legal rights. It makes no sense.
