MY TURN: Our local malignancy
Without question, Coeur d'Alene spoke clearly when four out of five citizens voted to not accept any re-entry facility in the city or the county.
Our problem, again, is with politicians, and it's a local and national malignancy! In this case, city and county 'leaders' lack the courage to
condemn the concept of the facility. Step by step, our city and county get ever closer to accepting a facility that would certainly welcome
endless unnecessary crime. Now it has moved on to the Planning Commission and now we hear that "only" sex offenders and drug offenders
would be placed here, as if there is some benefit to those types of offenders? We hear - after the fact - that a clear statement of non-acceptance
(by our Coeur d'Alene City Council or county commissioners) has not been documented with the Idaho Department of Correction. Certainly, other counties and cities have clearly proclaimed non-acceptance. How do we get our City Council and county commissioners to do their job?
This leads any citizen to speculate - is cash being promoted for city or county? Remember, Follow the Money!
Something is driving this abomination! Or, let me guess, that our politicians believe that their kids won't become statistics of any re-entry facility inmates?
Sound familiar? The malignancy in Coeur d'Alene and Kootenai County proves that politicians lack the courage to represent citizens - yet think they
should keep their jobs.
Such is the case across America, and because of it, our cities are burning! Our best citizens wouldn't get involved with politics and now we're stuck
with those who do. It now has become so pronounced as to see the cancer in our community. Our "leaders" lack the courage to go on record as supporting
the will of the people. It makes us wonder if being involved with the ground floor of this re-entry facility debacle could mean a lucrative profit for the
sale of land or construction efforts? Does each decision by our City Council go through such deliberate public obfuscation?
By the way, after his election, our mayor had NO INTEREST in discussing citizen surveys when the subject was posed to him. A telling observation.
Something stinks here! Is this just incompetence or a deliberate means of acceptance of this "turkey concept" into an otherwise conservative city?
Observation: The Press selects the vast majority of daily bylines from Liberal East Coast news media instead of readily available Conservative articles.
Why would that be in a vastly Conservative area?
I'd suggest that the Entry Facility issue can be solved at the ballot box, but time is of the essence. When the Planning Commission is involved,
CDA has accepted something that citizens want no part of! Show some backbone and support the citizens of Coeur d'Alene and the best interests
of our beautiful city.
Something is indeed malignant in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho!
