Washington man charged with drug trafficking

POST FALLS — A Washington man is being held on $100,000 bail after he and another person were arrested during a traffic stop.

Adam R. Dahlman, 32, of Spokane Valley, is charged with trafficking in meth and trafficking in heroin, both felonies.

Police stopped a black Jeep for an alleged traffic violation around 11 p.m. on Oct. 28.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Natasha M. Demick, of Salmon, Idaho, told police she had borrowed the Jeep from a friend.

The passenger, identified as Dahlman, initially told police his name was Joshua D. Hines, according to court records.

Police contacted the Jeep’s owner, who said he was Demick’s neighbor. He told police he had allowed Demick to borrow his vehicle earlier that week so she could shop for groceries, but she never came back. He also gave police permission to search the vehicle.

Inside the Jeep, police found capped needles, as well as a purse belonging to Demick, police reports said. The purse allegedly contained items including a clear plastic baggie with a white substance inside, two baggies with a black, tar-like substance, and a metal spoon with scorch marks on the underside.

Demick allegedly told police she had used heroin with the spoon and needles, according to court documents. She also allegedly said the white substance was meth.

Police also say they found a backpack in the Jeep that held a plastic baggie containing a white substance and a baggie containing a tar-like substance, as well as pills that were identified as Oxycodone and other paraphernalia.

The search also yielded a wallet containing several cards with Dahlman’s legal name on them.

Dahlman told police he shared the backpack with another person. He also identified the substances in the baggies as meth and heroin, according to court documents.

Police arrested Demick and Dahlman at the scene. Demick was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.

A judge ordered that Demick be held on $50,000 bail.
