ARTICLE: Substantiated bias

This is an open letter to staff writer Craig Northrup.

I am curious as to why the possibility of rioters coming to Coeur d’Alene is reported in your article about the City Council’s view of hatred, as “a still unsubstantiated threat,” and the unsubstantiated tell of Jonathan Jordan is reported as if it was fact.

I also wonder if you are familiar with the word deterrence. You may want to look up the meaning, as it may explain why the unsubstantiated threat of rioters did materialize in Spokane but not here.

Admittedly, this is my biased opinion, which makes me appreciate your article for dispelling the myth that unbiased reporting exists.
