TDS hits 10,000
COEUR d'ALENE — TDS Telecommunications LLC recently surpassed 10,000 total registrations for customers requesting new service in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden and Rathdrum.
“This milestone is a testament to the enthusiasm these communities have shown for the fiber network project as it rolls out,” said Julie Maiers, vice president of marketing and product development at TDS.
With a total of 33 neighborhoods completed, TDS has overcome construction delays and challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our commitment to these communities is steadfast. We will continue launching neighborhoods until the build is completed by the end of 2021,” said Wade Soczka, director of Network Construction.
The first neighborhoods in Rathdrum were launched earlier this month, and neighborhoods in Post Falls can expect to receive services by mid-November, according to a press release.
“As we get increasingly busy turning up addresses, now is the perfect time to register for services,” Maiers said. “There will be more than enough speed and bandwidth for everyone.”
Last year, TDS began building a 700-mile fiber-optic network in North Idaho to deliver 1Gig broadband technology.
The first customers were connected in November 2019 and services will continue launching in phases until all customers are launched by the end of 2021, the company said.
“We’re thrilled residents and area businesses are beginning to enjoy the speeds and bandwidth they need for distance learning, streaming, and working at home," Maiers said.
TDS employs nearly 2,700 people nationwide and is a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc.
