Post Falls woman killed in crash
COEUR d'ALENE — A 20-year-old Post Falls woman was killed when the car she was a passenger in was involved in a crash early Tuesday morning.
According to the Idaho State Police, Jason Hirschel, 29, Rathdrum, was northbound driving a 2020 Freightliner semi pulling two trailers on U.S. 95 approaching Appleway Avenue, which had a flashing yellow traffic signal about 1:45 a.m. for northbound traffic.
Jordan Sieverding, 18, Coeur d'Alene, was eastbound on Appleway Avenue approaching U.S. 95 in a black 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Appleway had a flashing red traffic signal for eastbound traffic.
ISP said Sieverding failed to stop at the light and entered the intersection, where he was struck by Hirschel on the passenger side. Sieverding's vehicle came to a rest on the northeast corner of the intersection.
Sieverding and a passenger, Orion Trask, 19, Post Falls, were transported to Kootenai Health.
The second passenger, Bayli Sieverding, was pronounced deceased at the scene, ISP said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, it is unknown if the passengers were wearing their seat belts.
The roadway was blocked for about five hours. Next of kin has been notified.
An investigation continues.
