Food giveaway today; another set for Nov. 3

COEUR d’ALENE — A food giveaway is scheduled today at Candlelight Christian Fellowship.

The church at 5725 N. Pioneer Drive will be distributing dairy, meat, fruits and vegetables starting at 10 a.m. and continuing throughout the day.

The USDA-approved items came from farmers and ranchers in eastern Washington and western Idaho. Demand for their products has been reduced by the economic impact of the coronavirus, so rather than throw the food away, they donated it to help others.

The church held a similar giveaway last week that attracted hundreds.

The Kiwanis Club of Coeur d’Alene is sponsoring a food giveaway on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Community United Methodist Church, 1470 W. Hanley Ave., Coeur d’Alene from 11 a.m to 1 p.m.

Fruits, vegetables, meat and other perishable products will be distributed through the Second Harvest Mobile Market program.
