GRANGEVILLE — The shorthanded Post Falls Trojans fell short in their bid to make the state tournament for the first time since 2017, losing 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 to the Boise Brave in a state 5A volleyball play-in match Saturday.

Freshman Kylie Munday had 11 kills, 14 assists and two blocks for Post Falls (16-4). Senior Maya Blake added 10 kills and 12 digs. Brooke Minden had 14 assists and three aces, Brielle Nagel 10 digs, Kamden Fiddes three blocks.

“Unfortunately we had two starters in quarantine for today’s match,” said Post Falls coach Willow Hanna, in her first year of her second stint with the Trojans. “We had a hard time finding any rhythm in our play. Boise passed well, which kept them in system. I’m proud of our team and their hard work this season.”

Boise (7-6), the fifth-place team from District 3, advances to state Friday and Saturday at Skyline High in Idaho Falls.

We came determined today,” fifth-year St. Maries coach Rachele Fischer said. “A little lapse in play mentally in game 3, but we turned it around in game 4. It has been a lot of volleyball in the last week for these girls and I am so proud of them for their work ethic, what each brings to the table, and for getting the job done.”
