Idaho's 2015 win at Troy
to be re-aired today
Vandal Rewind is back today at noon, with Idaho football's close win at Troy in 2015. Fans can catch the action the action, including new interviews with coaches and student-athletes, on the TuneIn App, at GoVandals.com/Listen and on select Vandal Radio Network stations, including ESPN 700 and 105.3 FM.
The story of this game wasn’t the game at all, but rather the travel.
“I'm so proud of our players,” Idaho coach Paul Petrino said after that game. “I've won Sugar Bowls, Cotton Bowls, huge games my whole life. I don't know if any one was better than that. With everything our players went through the last 24 hours, for them to go out there and lay it on the line like that … give it everything they've got. It's just a special day.”
Idaho’s Friday afternoon flight from Spokane to Montgomery, Ala., was delayed by 14 hours and ultimately took off at 3:30 a.m. Pacific time on Saturday. The Vandals arrived in Alabama with just enough time to get some breakfast, speak briefly and then finish the trip to Troy for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
The Vandals found a way to lock in and jumped out to a 6-0 lead at the half behind two field goals from Austin Rehkow. After a 10-point third quarter for Idaho, the Troy Trojans were able to tie the game up at 16 with 13 straight points in the fourth quarter. Rehkow was called upon one more time late, nailing a chip shot from 19 yards out to take the road victory.
