William E. 'Bill' Moore
Bill peacefully passed away in his own home in Hayden, Idaho, with his family nearby, on Oct. 17, 2020.
He was born to Margaret and George Moore on May 24, 1929, in a sod house in Sterling, Colo. His family moved to North Idaho in the late 1930s, where he spent most of his life.
He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He got the opportunity to go on the Honor Flight for Korean Vets in 2016.
In 1953, he joined the LDS Church and married Marilyn McFarlane, the mother of his children, and later married again.
He graduated from BYU Utah with a business degree.
He owned a business and sold life insurance most of his life. He also served three terms in the Idaho State Legislature as an Idaho State Senator.
Whenever he was asked how he was, he always said, “Oh, pretty good.”
His family meant the world to him; he loved everyone with every bone in his body. He was a strong family man, loving and supporting his loved ones no matter the situation, even if they did wrong. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone if he could. He was one of the most generous men we ever knew.
From a young age, music was one of the most important things in his life, besides his family. He played the fiddle and guitar for many years. Bill led a six-piece band called the Country Reminisce, aka “The Page Rustlers.” They had lots of great gigs for about 10 years, playing at all the senior homes in North Idaho and Spokane, Wash., as well as weddings, dances, grange halls, and New Years parties.
Bill lived his life full of love, compassion and true peace. He lived his 91 years on this earth with all his family and friends close by, loving him back just as much as he loved them.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and George Moore; his siblings; Mary Moore Bircher and Buck Moore; his wives, Marilyn, Mikki and Nola; and his son, Mathew Moore
He is survived by his sister, Arlene Moore Galovic; his children Peggy (Steve) Benson, Ernest Moore, Evan Moore, Mark Moore and Paul (Rachel) Moore; seven grandchildren and many great-nieces and nephews.
His services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 477 E. Honeysuckle Ave., Hayden, ID 83835.
A viewing will be held from 9:15-10 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 10. A graveside service will follow shortly after the services at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
