Man charged with felony DUI

POST FALLS — After two previous convictions, a man is facing his third DUI charge in six years.

Robert N. Thomasson, 51, is charged with driving under the influence, a felony.

Police responded last week to a report of a suspicious vehicle, a gold Jeep Cherokee, driving in circles around a Post Falls neighborhood that is under construction.

The Jeep was still in the neighborhood when police arrived. An officer pulled the Jeep over after the driver, later identified as Thomasson, allegedly turned without using a turn signal.

Thomasson’s breath smelled of alcohol, police said, and there were allegedly several alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle.

Thomasson allegedly told police he was looking for his son’s house but was unsure of the address. The neighborhood where he said his son lived was across Highway 41 from the neighborhood where he was pulled over, according to court documents.

After undergoing a field sobriety test, Thomasson provided a breath sample of .155, according to court documents. In Idaho, drivers with a blood alcohol level of .08 or more are considered legally impaired.

He was previously convicted of driving under the influence in 2014 and 2016.

A judge ordered that Thomasson be held on $25,000 bail.
