COEUR d’ALENE — Out on the lake, late at night, you are about to behold an eerie sight.

The Moonlit Monster Cruises are back.

Starting Friday, thrill-seekers will have opportunities to board Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruises' Halloween-themed boats for family friendly, all-ages cruises. The later, adults-only cruises for those 21 and older will be Oct. 30 and Halloween night.

“We’re really excited about it," said Cally King, director of marketing for Hagadone Marine Group and Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruises. "It's become a fun annual event here in Coeur d’Alene and one the community has really looked forward to."

This is the fourth year for the Moonlit Monster Cruises, which include an on-board haunted house, spooky decorations and signature Halloween beverages available for purchase.

"It's spooky, but not too spooky for young kiddos," King said. "If anybody came in the past, there will be some new features in the onboard maze."

Guests are encouraged to participate in the costume contest and post photos on the Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruises Facebook page using #cruisecda. The top five will be reposted, and the winner with the most "likes" will receive an overnight getaway at The Coeur d'Alene Resort. The winner will be announced Nov. 6.

“Cruises have been a wonderful way to enjoy the lake through all the seasons," King said. "We're excited to enjoy a fun, safe option."

Cruise team members will take temperatures upon boarding and will not allow anyone onboard with temperatures exceeding 99.9 degrees. Face masks won't be required, but will be encouraged. Sanitizer will be available throughout the boat and staff will be wearing gloves. Space will be limited.

Each cruise is 45 minutes. Boarding will take place at the Boardwalk Marina at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

For the family-friendly cruises, gates open at 4:30 p.m. with the first departure at 5 p.m. Boarding is first come, first served. Guests must be in line before 7:30 p.m. to make the final 8 p.m. cruise. The all-ages cruises will be held Oct. 23, 24, 25, 29, 30 and 31. Admission is $11.50 per person and free for children 3 and younger.

The 21-and-older cruises will be Oct. 30 and 31. Tickets are $11.50. Gates open at 8:30 p.m. with first departure at 9 p.m. Guests must be in line before 10:30 p.m. for the final 11 p.m. departure.
