COEUR d’ALENE — Angela Goggin had 10 kills and four blocks, Sarah Wilkey nine kills, seven digs and two aces for the Coeur d’Alene Vikings in a 25-15, 25-15, 25-19 win over the Lake City Timberwolves in a semifinal match in the 5A Region 1 tournament on Saturday at Viking Court.

“We were able to run our offense, and our ball control was really good,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “We struggled a little bit with our serving, but we’ve been working on some things offensively and it showed on the court today. Lake City was down a few starters, but were scrappy and battled the entire way.”

Lauren Phillips had 16 assists and two aces, Courtney Garwood 14 assists and two aces, Paige Drechsel nine digs and Kate Phillips three blocks and three aces for Coeur d’Alene (10-3), which plays at top-seeded Post Falls in the regional championship match Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Tanai Jenkins had five kills and two blocks, Hannah Rowan four kills and one block, Nellie Reese nine assists and five kills and Kamryn Pickford six digs for Lake City (6-4), which hosts Lewiston in a loser-out match on Tuesday.

“We’ve got half our varsity team in quarantine, so it’s been an emotional week,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “We had a lot of girls that hadn’t played a varsity match, but they stepped up and played as hard as they could. Our younger girls had a chance to step up, and they did a great job. They gave it their all.”
