VEHICLE FEE: Vote for Plan B
Sunday’s headline states there is no Plan B if the $50 registration fee fails. REALLY?
If I had given my boss that answer during my career, I would have been out on my ear. This, however, is the typical response of government entities or individuals who do not have guts to stand up to big business or developers who are the reasons we need a Plan A to begin with.
I remember friends of mine complaining that they had to pay extra fees to cover the costs of infrastructure in their residential developments. These fees were charged to the developers who then passed them on to the residents.
Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is Plan B! The growth that these developers and businesses tout is real. The profits that they personally generate are real. Why should current residents shoulder the burden of infrastructure while those who benefit most ride off into the sunset with their profits?
If you vote NO for this fee, you send a message, loudly and clearly, that managed growth, paid for by those who benefit the most, is the only alternative. I urge you all to think about the results of caving into these special interests.
