COEUR d’ALENE — The Pageturners Library Book Club will resume discussions in November via Zoom meetings.

The book club is reading “The Triumph of Seeds — How Grains, Nuts, Kernels, Pulses, and Pips Conquered the Plant Kingdom and Shaped Human History” by Thor Hanson.

The book will be discussed Nov. 19 at 10:15 a.m.

Scholar Paula Coomer, a writer and teacher now retired from Washington State University, will lead the discussion.

Book club discussions are open to any adult reader at no charge. Check out the books by visiting the library’s Research and Information Desk.

Pageturners began 11 years ago. It normally meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 10:15 a.m. in the Community Room. Title selections have varied from year to year, following a variety of themes.

"In recent years, we have adjusted the November date when it would fall the day before Thanksgiving,” organizer Kathleen Sayler said. "We have never met in December. And we have never before experienced the disruption found in 2020, but then COVID has impacted every aspect of our lives, hasn't it?”

“We tried one Zoom meeting in the spring and would like to try that again,” she said. "Perhaps some of you would participate who would find the typical in-person gathering difficult. We invite you to participate online to see if it works for you. If there is enough interest, we could make online participation an option even after COVID-19.”

Participants are asked to send requests to the library by email, info@cdalibrary.org, and will be provided the Zoom contact information when it is available.

Pageturners is funded by a grant from the Friends of the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
