Police: Montana man drove stolen car to Cd’A

COEUR d’ALENE — A Montana man is facing multiple felony charges after police said he stole a vehicle and credit cards out of state.

Dylan J. Lutz, 24, is charged with criminal possession of a stolen vehicle and six counts of criminal possession of a financial transaction card, all felonies.

After receiving reports of an “erratic” driver in a gold Mercedes that had no license plates on Oct. 7, police pulled the vehicle over on 4th St. in Coeur d’Alene.

The driver, identified as Lutz, initially told police his name was James Joseph Lutz, court documents said.

The vehicle was reported stolen in Flathead County, Montana earlier that day, according to court documents. Police found multiple debit and credit cards in Lutz’s wallet.

Lutz allegedly told police he came across the vehicle in a residential area of Polson, Mont. and hot-wired it, according to court documents. He also allegedly said he took the credit and debit cards from other vehicles, along with a gun that he reportedly traded or sold before he was stopped by police.

A judge ordered that Lutz be held on $50,000 bail.

Jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 11.
