PREP GIRLS SOCCER: Lambert, Lyman put Vikings in regional title match

COEUR d’ALENE — Tierra Lambert and Abbie Lyman scored two goals each for the top-seeded Coeur d’Alene Vikings in a 4-1 win over the fourth-seeded Post Falls Trojans in a loser-out, 5A Region 1 semifinal match at Coeur d’Alene High on Saturday.

“Those two work so well together, and it’s fun to watch them work and play,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “We controlled most of the game, and had a ton of opportunities, but their keeper (Ashley Grant) made some great saves to keep them in the game. She just made some amazing saves.”

Coeur d’Alene hosts Lake City in the regional championship game on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Lake City edged Lewiston 1-0 in the other semifinal on Saturday. Lake City has won seven straight regional titles.

Morgan Rust scored on an assist from Kaylee Moate in the 48th minute for Post Falls, which finishes 3-9.

“Ashley did a great job in goal again today,” Post Falls coach Steve Mills said. “I think the girls played really well and have so much to be proud of. They have come so far these last few weeks.”

COEUR d’ALENE — Izzy Henkle scored in the 30th minute for the second-seeded Timberwolves in a win over the third-seeded Bengals in a 5A Region 1 semifinal match at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

Hailey Jo Parks had five saves for Lake City (10-3), which plays at Coeur d’Alene in the 5A Region 1 championship match on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Lewiston finishes 4-6-1.
