Prka passes for 405 yards, 5 TDs as Coeur d'Alene steamrolls Lewiston

LEWISTON — Coeur d’Alene senior quarterback Jack Prka accounted for all six of the Vikings' first-half touchdowns, five through the air, and finished with 405 passing yards as Coeur d'Alene routed the Lewiston Bengals 56-14 in the 5A Inland Empire League opener for both schools Friday night. at Bengal Field.

Ethan Garitone caught eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns for Coeur d’Alene (5-0), which bolted to a 42-14 halftime lead.

"It's the second game in a row we played well in all three facets," Coeur d'Alene coach Shawn Amos said. "I thought we were a little undisciplined (penalties) in the first half, but we bounced back in the second half."

Coeur d'Alene opened the scoring less than three minutes into the game on a 28-yard pass from Prka to Cameren Cope. Ethan Garitone caught a 15-yard pass from Prka with 3:58 remaining to give the Vikings a 14-0 lead after the first quarter.

Prka added touchdown passes to Garitone and Isaiah Griffin to give Coeur d’Alene a 28-0 lead with 5:25 remaining in the half.

Trent Elstad ran for a pair of second-half touchdowns for Coeur d'Alene.

"The good thing is, we continue to spread the ball around," Amos said. "Jack does a good job getting the ball to our playmakers."

Coeur d’Alene hosts Lake City next Friday. The Vikings beat the Timberwolves 40-13 in a nonleague game on Sept. 25.

Lewiston (3-4) hosts Post Falls next Friday. The Trojans beat the Bengals 27-26 in a nonleague game on Sept. 11 in Post Falls.
