POST FALLS — The last time Post Falls won a league title in volleyball, its current coach was in her first stint as Trojans head coach.
Ten years later ...
Kylie Munday had 11 kills, 14 assists and two aces, Rylee Hartwig seven kills, three blocks and two aces for the Trojans in a 25-11, 25-15, 25-19 win over the Lewiston Bengals in a 5A Inland Empire League match at The Arena.
The win, coupled with a loss by Coeur d’Alene at Lake City, gave Post Falls (14-2, 5-1 5A IEL) the league title and top seed to regionals starting next Saturday. It is Post Falls’ first league title since 2010, when Willow Hanna was the coach.
“I’m just really proud of these kids,” said Hanna, in her first year back after being head coach at her alma mater from 2007-15. “It’s a new coaching staff this year, but they’ve leaned into each moment that we’ve given them to get better. I’m really proud of their effort all season.”
Kassie Gardiner had 16 assists, Claire Holding 11 digs, Maya Blake nine digs and Brielle Nagel five aces for Post Falls, which is idle until hosting Lewiston again to open regionals on Oct. 17.
“We played a good all-around game,” Hanna said. “We moved the ball well in our offense. Our blocking was good for us, and we just put it all together tonight.”
