COEUR d’ALENE – Kootenai County has more than 100,000 registered voters as of Wednesday, said County Clerk Jim Brannon.

"The outpouring of support from our community reflects the high interest in this election," he said in a press release.

The first absentee mail-out was Friday, with 37,037 ballots being mailed.

This is a record number of absentee ballots requested, Brannon said.

"Again, no ballots are being sent to people who have not requested one. All ballot requests are tracked and certified by our Elections Team before they are mailed," he said in the release.

Absentee ballots must be received at the Elections Office no later than 8 p.m. Nov. 3 for it to be counted.

Brannon said a voted absentee ballot can't be returned at a polling location, which are for in-person voting.

The deadline to register to vote for the General Election is Friday. The state of Idaho allows same-day registration on Election Day at your polling location.

"Due to anticipated long wait times at the polling locations, I suggest that you register before Election Day," Brannon said.

Early Voting will take place Oct. 19 to Oct. 30 at the Elections Office, 8 to 5, Monday through Friday. The Elections Office is located at 1808 N. Third St.
