Forrest "Gene" Schmeling, 47

Gene unexpectedly passed away on Sept. 26, 2020, at age 47. He was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and resided in Coeur d’Alene in his early years. He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1991 and later moved to Seattle, where he took up a career as a superintendent of Definitive Drywall.

In Seattle he started his family and is father to Levi, Madison, and CJ Schmeling. He dedicated much of his time with his children. Gene enjoyed outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and visiting the ocean.

Gene was survived by children Levi Schmeling, Madison Schmeling and CJ Schmeling; father, Forrest Schmeling; mother, Mary Kirkingburg; brothers Micheal Schmeling, Tracy Schmeling and Jory Schmeling; and sister, Mary Danna.

A funeral service will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2020, at Yahn and Son Funeral Home, with interment on Oct. 9, 2020, at the Newport Cemetery.
