| October 7, 2020 1:00 AM

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Tyler Allen Schwenk, 40, of Coeur d’ Alene. Tyler was born on Feb. 10, 1980, and left us too soon on Sept. 30, 2020.

Tyler was a talented chef who built an outstanding culinary career. He started working early in life at The Coeur d’Alene Resort and worked his way up to kitchen supervisor by the age of 18. Next, his career took him to beautiful places throughout the world as a sous chef on luxury yachts.

After returning home from his voyage, Tyler became a father to his two incredible children, Aspen and Evan. He loved them deeply and cherished the time he spent with them.

Tyler spent the majority of his career at The Coeur d’Alene Resort as executive chef of Beverly’s, and wrapped up his final course at Kalispel Golf Course’s 1898 Public House.

In 2010 he fell in love with Megan, his wife of almost 10 years. They both had a love and understanding of the food service industry and spent their happiest times on the ski hill, at the river, or traveling.

Tyler had numerous culinary awards, but what made him amazing was the person he was to everyone around him. He was more than a boss; he was a mentor, a friend and a motivator to countless aspiring chefs along the way. Tyler’s culinary skills brought friends and family together. He will be remembered for both his talent and for his love and kindness to people.

Tyler is survived by his wife, Megan (Fredrickson) Schwenk; daughter, Aspen Schwenk, son, Evan Schwenk; parents, Carol (Barker) and Randy Kreighbaum, and Gregory and Evelyn Schwenk. Siblings include his brother, Chris, and sister-in law, Leanne Kreighbaum, and their daughter, Callie; and his brother, Cory Kreighbaum. He is also survived by his in-laws, Dan and Barb Fredrickson, and brother- and sister-in-law, Shawn and Ivy Fredrickson, and their children, Clark and Helen. There are numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’ Alene. A viewing will be held from 1-1:45 p.m. and a service will begin at 2 p.m. There will be a reception immediately following at the Coeur d’Alene Inn.
