MASKS: Mandate was necessary

| October 7, 2020 1:00 AM

If mask wearing ONLY protected the wearer, I would agree with the opinions of our elected non-scientists and protesters. However, it is the rest of us at risk with a non-mask wearer. The Panhandle Health District board, like our police, are charged with promoting public safety. It is for the good of all of us in Kootenai County that the mandate was passed.

Business owners should be particularly grateful since Panhandle Health District has their back with this mandate for two reasons. First, it protects their employees and secondly it attracts seniors with disposable incomes who only frequent businesses where they feel safe and masks are worn.

I appreciate that the Panhandle Health District board has the courage to stand up to the vocal protests of some.
