VEHICLE FEE: Shades of Golden State

For years the state of California has floated tax hike ballot propositions with disingenuous names. The latest, prop 15, drastically increases commercial property taxes (with an eye toward residential property in the future). It is titled the “California schools and local communities funding act of 2020.”
Kootenai County now has a $50 annual vehicle registration fee on the November ballot. Proponents and their 14centsaday.com website describe this as the “traffic relief ballot proposal.” It looks like the Idaho politicians and their cronies have learned well from their California brethren.
