COEUR d’ALENE — A man will spend 90 days in jail after reportedly stealing light bulbs, mouthwash and ice cream.

Kelley L. Pahl, 23, pleaded guilty to petite theft, a misdemeanor.

Police responded to a report of theft at WinCo Foods on July 25, where a loss prevention employee had detained Pahl in handcuffs, according to court documents.

Security footage reportedly showed Pahl remove two light bulbs from their packages and conceal the light bulbs in his shorts. Footage also showed him conceal a bottle of mouthwash and ice cream.

Pahl reportedly told police that he went to WinCo in order to buy light bulbs and decided that he also wanted mouthwash and ice cream. However, he said he did not have enough money with him to purchase the items and decided to conceal the items in his shorts, according to court documents.

When contacted by loss prevention as he exited the store, Pahl reportedly “pushed” his closed fists against an employee’s head in an attempt to get away.

The employee was unharmed.
