DEBATE: A call for normalcy
I’m sure many people in the Cd’A area watched our president debate Mr. Biden. What a night of honor for the American people.
When I was born, Mr. Eisenhower was still president. A man who led us to victory during World War II. A man we could admire. Then we had JFK. Most people loved him. LBJ. He put through the civil rights act. Nixon? Not a really great guy. But many people voted for him and liked him. Ford was OK. He was an honest, middle-of-the road fella who never tried to do harm.
Jimmy Carter? He wasn’t the best president. What about Reagan? Funny, how many people today forget that he was the governor of California. George H.W. Bush. His father did business with the Nazis before World War II. Bill Clinton. When he was president, everyone was making money. Then we elected Bush. He took us to war with the middle-easterners. Iraq.
Then we elected Obama. No one thought about the fact that white trash would never get over the fact that an African American was leading the country. So where are we now? A man who is a Hollywood star. A reality show grifter. An income-tax evader. Can’t we do any better than this?
Joe Biden may not be the most exciting person you will ever see. But he is a normal, ordinary person. After four years of the insanity of Donald Trump, let’s vote for normality. Let’s vote for sanity. Let’s vote for a sane ordinary world. Let’s vote for a lack of excitement. Let’s vote for gentility and breathing space. Let’s vote at last for a real world where our children can grow up free.
