VEHICLE FEE: A strong ‘no’

| October 2, 2020 1:00 AM

I’m writing in strong opposition to the proposed $50 increase of vehicle registration.

We recently have endured a gasoline tax increase to supposedly repair our roads and bridges, as well as a $25 increase of our vehicle registration fees that were meant to do the same. These additional costs levied upon our citizenry, especially lower income folks, are basically taxes. Our taxes increase every year, with schools, fire, property taxes, etc.

Many of us live on fixed incomes and our economic well-being has been severely affected by the China-inflicted virus, with many business owners forced to shut down. To further burden us with yet another increase in registration fees at such an inopportune time would place an undue hardship on taxpayers, of which I am vehemently opposed.

Vote NO on the “fee” increase; use the monies we already give more effectively!
