PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lakeland sweeps Post Falls

RATHDRUM — Katy Ryan had 12 kills and three blocks, and Lakeland Hawks avenged a sweep at the hands of Post Falls earlier this season by sweeping the Trojans 25-12, 29-27, 25-21 in nonleague play Thursday night at Hawk Court.

Abbey Neff had 19 assists and three aces for Lakeland (7-5). Addisen Kiefer added eight kills, Jozee Russell six kills, Olivia Cooper 16 digs, Kenna Simon four blocks, Ellie Carlson three aces, Bethany Johnson three blocks.

“Tonight was a great win for us,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “We played with intensity the entire night. We played scrappy and dug a lot of powerful hits. We blocked well, and kept the momentum on our side.”

Kylie Munday had nine kills and 16 assists for Post Falls (10-2). Rylee Hartwig added nine kills and three aces, Brielle Nagel 14 digs and two aces, Claire Holding 12 digs, Laura Moler and Kamden Fiddes two aces each.

On Saturday, Post Falls plays at Lake City in 5A Inland Empire League play, and Lakeland is home vs. Moscow in 4A IEL action.

Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — Junior Nellie Reese had eight kills to go with 17 assists and three aces, and the visiting Timberwolves swept the Bulldogs 27-25, 25-22, 25-10 in nonleague play at Les Rogers Court.

Reese normally plays on the right side in the rotation where she’s not setting in a 6-2 offense for Lake City (5-2). On Thursday night, Lake City switched her to the left side.

“Nellie played smart; we got her involved more offensively,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “She’s very smart; she does a great job placing the ball.”

Hanah Stoddard had seven kills, six assists and 12 digs for the Timberwolves. Jaya Miller added 16 digs, Ella Hosfeld 12 digs, Brenna Hawkins nine kills and four aces, Tanai Jenkins five kills and three blocks.

“I was proud of our defense tonight,” Kleinberg said. “Gabby Hicks (Sandpoint’s top hitter), we did a nice job knowing where she was on the court, and did a good job making adjustments around where she was.”

Sandpoint dipped to 2-8.

Lake City plays host to Post Falls on Saturday.

BONNERS FERRY — Brooke Jessen had 11 kills, Sami Wilfong 30 assists as the visiting Tigers beat the Badgers 26-24, 19-25, 25-14, 25-22 in Intermountain League play.

Jaycie Pratt added nine kills and three aces for Timberlake (3-6, 2-2 IML), and Linley Howard had two blocks.

Timberlake plays host to Coeur d’Alene Charter on Monday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Quincy Riggs had 20 assists, Taylor Peterson 18 digs for the Panthers in a 25-17, 25-14, 25-17 win over the Spartans in Intermountain League play at Holy Family Catholic School.

“We were a little sluggish tonight for whatever reason,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Cindy Beyer said. “We didn’t move and talk like we normally do. We were just a little off tonight.”

Rylee Peterson had eight kills, Maddie Kociela five kills, Jaclyn Paterson four kills and Raeana Kendra four kills for Coeur d’Alene Charter (6-2, 4-1 IML), which travels to Timberlake on Monday.

Priest River is 1-8, 0-5.

MULLAN — The host Tigers edged the Royals 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 19-25, 15-13 in nonleague play at the Mullan Pavilion.

Grace Gwin had 10 kills, Hailey LePard five aces, Elisa Osborn three blocks for North Idaho Christian (5-5), which plays host to The Oaks on Monday.

Mullan is home against Wallace on Tuesday.

MULLAN — The host Tigers improved to 2-1 in the North Star League with a 25-17, 25-10, 25-16 victory over the Warriors late Tuesday.

Kootenai (0-8, 0-3 NSL) travels to face the Kellogg JV on Saturday.
