CASA Uncorked is Oct. 15
North Idaho CASA will host the seventh annual CASA Uncorked Oct. 15 at the Hagadone Event Center.
This event has evolved from a casual, silent auction happy hour into a big ticket, sit-down dinner and live auction showdown that does not disappoint loyal supporters.
“Our donors care about the child victims of this community,” director of development Kristin Ludwig said. "Unlike Boys and Girls Club, who has a huge support base from the families that enroll their kids in the program, CASA has to rely on personal donors and businesses giving from their hearts. Our kids' parents are going through tough times, are addicts or are in jail. Our advocates volunteer their time to the kids and their cases, leaving our organization with the task of building relationships within the community and private donors to fund the growing need for advocacy. It is the best part of my job.”
CASA supports trained advocates for more than 450 child abuse and neglect victims throughout the First Judicial District. Advocates investigate child protection cases, represent the child’s best interest in court and help find them a safe home with a forever family. Keynote speaker for the evening will be Tammy Strait, CASA advocate, whose first year on a case proved challenging, yet rewarding.
Recruiting new advocates during unsure times will be the program’s biggest challenge this coming year. The move to the CASA Center for Child Victims in midtown in 2019 has given the organization a home base in which to train, recruit and support current advocates.
This annual fall
event will feature a silent auction, two raffles and a live auction during a sit-down dinner.
Different-sized tables will accommodate groups or couples who want to socially distance.
